10:00 – 13:00

Bath, Victoria Park, Marlborough Lane, Bath BA1, UK

Discover the joy of sowing, growing and soil; and help us plant and propagate herbs as we make a new community herb garden within Victoria Park. Apply mindfulness techniques in nature as we appreciate the park’s trees and their Autumn colour; join us for a positive, mindful, growing experience.

We provide a safe space to grow in confidence, connect with other people, and learn new skills. When you join a Grow for Life course or session we help to nurture you so you flourish.  Our sessions really improve well being and benefit you if you are struggling with low confidence, anxiety, depression or isolation.

About the session

Herbs and Nature is a gentle 9 week course. It will help you learn more about growing herbs, and creating a community herb garden in Victoria Park.

We will also use the gift of Victoria Park’s trees to connect with nature each week as you will be invited to appreciate the changing colours of Autumn as we take a walk in the park as a break from the horticultural activities. This is suitable for people with all levels of fitness.

Topics over the eight therapeutic sessions will look at soil and compost, no-dig principles, sowing seed, propagation, potting on, preparing a herb bed and planting out herbs.

Things to know

  • The sessions will be led by Iraklis, one of Grow for Life’s staff members, and supported by a Grow for Life volunteer.

  • While we will be working in the Council Parks greenhouses we will be sheltered, however stout shoes and a waterproof coat will be needed when we venture into the park each week.

  • As we are working on Council premises we will be asked to wear a hi-vis vest when moving across the site, we will provide these.

  • Do bring a snack and a drink for our mid-session break time.
