Become a Grow for Life Trainee

Come and garden with us! Join our friendly team of gardeners and learn new gardening and social skills as you help look after beautiful gardens in Bath.

It’s fun, it’s outside, it’s healthy and it’s safe. It’s also free! No previous experience is required.

“I have particularly enjoyed meeting new people which has given me confidence in every area of my life. I was completely isolated and now I am feeling I want to go out.”

Emily*, Grow for Life Trainee

You will join a small group of trainees and Grow for Life team members for fun and informal weekly sessions. You will work alongside our experienced and friendly gardeners and mentors who will supervise and encourage you. A typical session lasts 3 hours with a break in the middle for refreshments. This is an important part of the session when we chat and share, offering a listening ear and encouragement.

There is also an option to progress onto work-focused gardening experience and to gain a Level 1 horticulture qualification.

We welcome men and women aged 18 and over. We currently have trainees aged between 18 and 60. Later this year we will be launching our first women-only gardening sessions.

Our trainees are normally referred to us by their GP, a mental health practitioner or another professional, but you can also self-refer.

Want to find out more? We’d love to hear from you! Get in touch and we’ll arrange a time to meet you for a chat over coffee.
